December Newsletter

Bulldogs racing is proud to announce the arrival of the chassis for BR ’16, our all-electric race car! Throughout the course of this year, we’ve seen tremendous progress on all aspects of this project. And with this year coming to a close, we would like to thank our members for their hard work and dedication; we would also like to thank our supporters who have helped make our dream a reality!  Bulldogs Racing wishes everyone happy holidays and hopes to be off to a strong start in this next year!

Before the arrival of the chassis, our engineers have been hard at work so that we can finally start putting BR ’16 together! On the construction side, end plates have been fabricated and the manufacturing of the battery box has begun. Team engineers have also machined the cell tab load spreaders and 3D-printed the cell board. On the design side, team engineers have finished the designs for the motor mounts. Chief Engineer Philip Piper ‘16 finalized suspension designs and Project Manager Dante Archangeli ‘17 has finished seal and bearing choices. The efforts of the team, especially our hard-working engineers, will soon pay off when the car begins to take shape!

On the business side of the house, the finance team has been busy working to improve and update our website, to continue our outreach program, and to create our team video, which should be out by the end of the semester. Bulldogs Racing has also begun to reach out to Yale’s residential colleges for support when the team competes in the Spring. Last but not least, Bulldogs Racing is happy to welcome seven new sponsors: Stratasys, Brembo, Sikorsky, EA Patten, Protocase, Elcon Chargers, and Molex. Their support, along with the support of all of our sponsors, makes this club run. Bulldogs Racing is grateful to have such support! We are especially excited to have the opportunity to work with Sikorsky on manufacturing our uprights, and a special shout-out goes to Brembo for sending us some sweet calipers!
